Nauheed Cyrusi Shares Heartfelt Reasons for Child-Free Life After Miscarriages
Bollywood actress Nauheed Cyrusi opens up about her personal journey, revealing why she chose a child-free life after two miscarriages and her dedication to animal welfare. A brave, candid story.
Bollywood actress Nauheed Cyrusi, known for her candidness, has recently shed light on the deeply personal reasons behind her and husband Rustom's decision to embrace a child-free life. Their journey, which includes two heartbreaking miscarriages, has led them to redefine their life's purpose, focusing instead on caring for furry companions.
Nauheed and Rustom tied the knot in 2017, and the couple conceived their first child in 2018. Tragically, this pregnancy ended in a miscarriage during the third month. "We went in for our last checkup to hear the heartbeat. Unfortunately, there wasn't any," Nauheed shared in an emotional Instagram video. Following this profound loss, they found solace and purpose in adopting Jojo, an elderly cocker spaniel who was almost blind and deaf.
Their hopes were rekindled during the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic when Nauheed became pregnant for a second time. However, history repeated itself, and they experienced another miscarriage. These consecutive losses profoundly impacted their perspective on parenthood.
"By now, we have also started to think our purpose in life has to be something more than just getting babies into the world," Nauheed expressed. She elaborated that their path now involves "taking care of the furries that need us," a mission they have pursued quietly and passionately for years.
Nauheed also candidly discussed her stance on assisted reproductive technologies. While she chose not to pursue IVF or other artificial methods, believing that "if a baby is meant to be ours, then it will be ours without going down that route," she did freeze her eggs as a precautionary measure, "in case she ever changed her mind" in the future.
The emotional and physical toll of miscarriages is immense, a fact underscored by psychologist Anjali Gursahaney. Gursahaney notes that a woman's body undergoes significant changes post-miscarriage, including cramping, heavy bleeding, and hormonal fluctuations. Medical interventions like a D&C might also be necessary, and the uterus requires time to heal and return to its pre-pregnancy state. The psychological impact is equally profound, often involving grief, anxiety, and depression. Nauheed's brave sharing of her experience not only offers a glimpse into her personal life but also opens up conversations around sensitive topics like fertility, loss, and alternative life paths.
