Delhi CNG price hike hits Rs 80.09/kg as 2nd rise in 2 days
CNG prices in Delhi-NCR jump again by Re 1 per kg, Delhi at Rs 80.09/kg while Noida/Ghaziabad rise to Rs 88.70/kg amid global energy pressures.
CNG prices in Delhi-NCR rose again on Sunday, marking the second increase in two days as global energy pressures continued to push up fuel costs in India. CNG prices were raised by Re 1 per kg from Sunday. In Delhi, CNG now costs Rs 80.09 per kg, while prices in Noida and Ghaziabad increased to Rs 88.70 per kg.
The latest revision comes just two days after CNG prices were increased by Rs 2 per kg on May 15. The repeated hikes follow the government's recent decision to increase petrol and diesel prices for the first time in more than four years amid mounting losses faced by fuel retailers due to surging global crude oil prices.
Fueled by energy pressures, crude oil traded in a high range, with factors including the West Asia conflict keeping global prices volatile. While crude has eased from earlier peaks, the ongoing price dynamics continue to put pressure on fuel retailers and consumers alike. Industry estimates had shown oil companies were losing substantial amounts per litre of petrol and diesel and per LPG cylinder in the days leading up to the latest revision, underscoring the financial squeeze on state-run oil marketing companies.
Analysts say the price adjustments reflect not just global energy markets but also domestic fiscal strategies and subsidy disbursements aimed at stabilizing retail oil prices for consumers. As Delhi and the wider Delhi-NCR region absorb these costs, households and commuters are likely to monitor further price movements in the coming weeks.
