J&K: Day 2 of Intense Hunt for LeT Terrorists in Shopian! Escape Routes Sealed

Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir are in the second day of an intensive anti-terror operation in the Meemandar area of Shopian. The large-scale cordon and search operation was launched following credible intelligence regarding militant activity, specifically targeting two suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists.

The two trapped militants have been identified as local residents Latif and Zakir. They were initially spotted by surveillance cameras on Friday (July 3, 2026) in a dense orchard within the Meemandar area, which encompasses seven villages. Upon the approach of security forces, the terrorists opened fire, prompting effective retaliation and triggering a gunfight.

To prevent any escape, additional troops have been swiftly deployed to seal all possible routes out of the operational zone. Despite the challenging foliage and dense terrain of the orchard, security forces are meticulously continuing their search.
