However, royal sources quickly countered this claim, asserting that Prince Harry and Meghan were indeed made aware of the letter on Monday afternoon, well before its public release. It's understood the Sussexes had only about an hour's notice before the information was shared with the media, which might be the source of their "surprise" regarding the lack of time to respond.

This development comes amidst heightened discussions around the Sussexes' status and privileges. A security committee, known as Ravec (Royal and VIP Executive Committee), which includes Home Office representatives, is currently meeting this week to review the level of taxpayer-funded security to be provided to the couple while they reside in the UK.

Prince Harry has previously voiced concerns about insufficient police protection during his visits to the UK.
