A tragic road accident unfolded early Saturday morning in southeast Delhi's Sukhdev Vihar area, leaving an auto-rickshaw driver dead on the spot and injuring at least one other person. The incident, which occurred around 7 a.m. near a Delhi Metro Station, involved a speeding i20 car that allegedly lost control while possibly racing another vehicle.
According to witnesses, the white i20 first collided with an auto-rickshaw before veering off and hitting a cycle rickshaw passing nearby. A tea seller, who was just meters away, reported seeing two cars engaged in what appeared to be a race when one of them crashed into the vehicles.
This witness also claimed that four occupants immediately exited the offending car after the collision and quickly fled the scene in the second car, leaving behind the devastation.
The auto-rickshaw driver succumbed to his injuries at the site of the crash. Officials have confirmed that one or two other individuals sustained injuries in the impact.
Local police were promptly alerted to the incident, and an investigation is underway.
Authorities are working to gather more details and apprehend those responsible for this fatal hit-and-run.
