Delhi police arrest three men for robbing a senior citizen of ₹3.5 lakh after a bank withdrawal; two suspects remain at large.
Three men have been arrested in Delhi for allegedly robbing a senior citizen of ₹3.5 lakh in Swaroop Nagar, outer north Delhi. The incident began after the complainant withdrew money from an SBI branch in Burari on November 27. Five men followed him from the bank on two motorcycles and intercepted him at a secluded stretch near the Bawana-Narela belt, where they surrounded and robbed him violently. The accused identified in police records are Karan, 21, Sachin, 22, and Akash, 24. During initial questioning, they revealed that the robbery was planned with two other accomplices, Lovely, described as the mastermind, and Mohan alias Gandhi, who are still at large. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the two absconding suspects.
Investigations indicate the group acted in a coordinated manner, following a pattern of selecting targets after posing as customers inside the bank, then tracking withdrawals to strike at a less-crowded location. The operation involved confirming the withdrawal amount and timing before executing the robbery. Police recovered ₹58,000 in cash and one vehicle used in the crime. Further investigation is underway to trace the remaining suspects and recover any additional stolen items.
The incident highlights the risks associated with cash withdrawals and the need for public vigilance. Residents are advised to stay alert and report suspicious activity promptly, while authorities continue efforts to close the case and bring all involved to justice.
