A shocking incident has unfolded in Delhi, where a 3-year-old boy was allegedly subjected to physical assault and sexual harassment at a private day care and playschool in North-East Delhi's Jaffrabad. Police have arrested one employee, a 35-year-old attendant, while three others, the school director, principal, and a teacher, have been booked in connection with the horrific allegations.
The distressing details came to light after the child's father filed a complaint on August 25. According to the father, his son had been exhibiting concerning behavior, including refusing to go to school and having difficulty using the washroom. On August 18, the child began vomiting, leading parents to an ENT specialist who found severe swelling in both his eardrums.
The doctor indicated the injuries were consistent with physical assault. Seeking answers, the parents requested CCTV footage from the facility but were reportedly charged ₹1,500 by the school director to access it. The footage, covering August 16 to 18 and received by the father on August 25, allegedly showed the young boy being tied to a chair, slapped, having his ears pulled, and the chair being kicked by a teacher and support staff member.
Disturbingly, these acts purportedly occurred inside the classroom, even with other children present.
The father also recounted that during playtime, his son was often kept tied to a chair with teachers instead of playing with peers. The child is still experiencing difficulty with his hearing.
Following a medical examination at GTB Hospital on August 27, the medico-legal case (MLC) report recorded "physical assault" and noted swelling on his left thigh and an abrasion near his left eye. The Delhi police registered a case under Sections 115(2) and 126(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Sections 75 and 82 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, and Section 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.
Efforts are actively underway to apprehend the remaining three accused.
Authorities have stated that appropriate legal action will be taken after a thorough review of all CCTV footage and additional evidence.
