His exact wording echoed a firm position: “My position has not changed: I will oppose the confirmation of any Federal Reserve nominee, including for the position of Chairman, until the DOJ's inquiry into Chairman Powell is fully and transparently resolved.” While Democrats are united in calling for a pause, they still face a tall task to delay a nominee in a body where they are outnumbered, and Republicans remain divided on strategy.
