Shock in Delhi: Renowned Doctor Arrested for Brutal Househelp Murder

A prominent Delhi dermatologist, Dr. Manish Gupta, has been arrested following the horrific murder of his 58-year-old domestic help, Mina Halder, at his upscale Mount Kailash home. The shocking incident unfolded on Thursday, leaving a community stunned.

Police responded to a PCR call around 11:36 a.m. after a neighbor discovered Mina Halder's body on the terrace of the residential building, lying in a pool of blood. Upon arrival at the Mount Kailash Apartments in South-East Delhi, officers found 56-year-old Dr. Gupta sitting beside the victim's body. He was immediately taken into custody.

During questioning, Dr. Gupta confessed to the brutal attack, admitting he bludgeoned Ms. Halder with a cricket bat before stabbing her with a knife. Both weapons were subsequently recovered from the living room of his residence. The motive behind this heinous crime is still under investigation, though early reports hint at a possible argument over Ms. Halder's employment.

Ms. Halder, originally from Kolkata, had been a long-serving employee, working at Dr. Gupta’s home for 16 years. Her brother, Shubho Haldar, expressed the family’s devastation, stating she had left for work as usual that morning. Neighbors, who described Dr. Gupta as someone who never exhibited aggressive behavior, expressed complete shock at the news.

Dr. Manish Gupta is a well-known figure in the medical community, associated with the National Heart Institute and operating two clinics in East of Kailash and Karol Bagh. He completed his medical residency from AIIMS, Delhi, in 2001, boasting over two decades of experience in dermatology. The community is grappling with how a respected professional could be involved in such a tragic and violent act. Investigations are ongoing as authorities work to piece together the full circumstances leading to Ms. Halder's death.
