David Attenborough marks his 100th birthday with London events, a landmark show at Royal Albert Hall, and a new 360° museum experience that cements his legacy in nature storytelling.
David Attenborough marks his 100th birthday on May 8, a milestone celebrated around the world by fans who have spent decades being inspired by his nature storytelling. In London, supporters will gather at Trafalgar Square dressed as animals—or as the man himself—and belt out a playful 'Happy Birthday' before moving to a series of nature-themed classics, including The Lion Sleeps Tonight.
At Royal Albert Hall, a 90-minute live show titled 100 Years on Planet Earth will thread archive footage with music from the BBC Concert Orchestra and appearances by special guests, paying tribute to his life and decades-long influence on natural history storytelling. Since June 2025, Attenborough has narrated the Natural History Museum’s immersive show Our Story With David Attenborough, a 50-minute, 360-degree experience using real-world footage to trace Earth’s history and humanity’s impact, running through August 2026.
His impact extends beyond broadcasts. An Indian documentary filmmaker recalls meeting Attenborough and interviewing him twice, noting his charm and humility as a turning point in her own career path.
