Fog Triggers 15-Vehicle Pile-Up on EPE; Noida Slashes Speed Limits
Dense fog on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway triggers a 15-vehicle pile-up near Samadhipur, prompting speed reductions on EPE and Noida Expressway.
Dense fog on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway caused a chain-reaction pile-up involving around 15 vehicles on Saturday morning, as visibility dropped and vehicles ahead slowed. The incident began around 8:30 am when a vehicle heading toward Palwal from the Dasna side slowed near Samadhipur village, and a following vehicle collided into it. That initial impact set off a domino effect, with as many as 15 vehicles—both heavy and light—getting caught in a chain collision.
A team from the Dadri police station reached the spot and restricted vehicle movement on the EPE as emergency responders worked to clear the wreckage. After about two hours, all accident-involved vehicles were removed from the main carriageway and traffic was restored. No injuries were reported and no complaints had been received yet.
Following the pile-up, Noida traffic police issued an advisory to reduce speeds on the EPE and the Noida–Greater Noida Expressway. From December 15, the speed limit for light vehicles on the Noida–Greater Noida Expressway and the Yamuna Expressway has been reduced from 100 kmph to 75 kmph, while heavy vehicles will continue at 60 kmph on the Yamuna Expressway and 50 kmph on the Noida Expressway.
