High drama unfolded in Patna today as Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav, along with his sister Misa Bharti and numerous party members, was detained by police during a massive protest march. The demonstration, aimed at Bihar's Lok Bhawan (or Raj Bhavan), saw authorities deploying water cannons to disperse the agitated crowd.
The protest, which gathered significant momentum, highlighted critical issues plaguing the state, including widespread unemployment and persistent paper leaks in examinations. News reports also noted that the demonstration was partly a reaction against a controversial incident involving a cop using an AK-47, adding another layer of grievance to the already charged atmosphere.
Starting from JP Golambar, the march proceeded towards its intended destination, with RJD leaders and workers determined to make their voices heard.
However, their path was blocked at the Income Tax Chouraha, where they attempted to breach police barricades.
It was at this juncture that police resorted to using water cannons, leading to a confrontation that culminated in the detention of Tejashwi Yadav, Misa Bharti, and several other prominent RJD figures.
