Kasaragod cycle rally promotes green polls ahead of Kerala elections

With six days left before the Kerala Assembly elections, a bicycle rally in Kasaragod was organised to promote eco-friendly election practices and boost Voter Awareness. The event, titled ‘Chase the Green Track: Ride with District Collector,’ was led by Kasaragod District Collector Arjun Pandian and was part of the District Suchitwa Mission's efforts in collaboration with the SVEEP campaign. The rally was flagged off by the district collector, who said the initiative aims to ensure that the upcoming elections are conducted in an environmentally sustainable manner.

Around 30 members from the Kasaragod Pedallers Cycling Club and the Trikaripur Cycling Club joined the ride. The route began at Kanhangad old bus stand and took participants past Bekal Fort, ending at Bekal Beach Park. At the concluding venue, Anas Mustafa, managing director of Bekal Beach Park, welcomed the cyclists, while SVEEP nodal officer Ratheesh Pilicode and District Information Officer M. Madhusoodanan delivered remarks. The rally forms part of a broader awareness campaign led by the Suchitwa Mission and the Kanhangad municipality to promote the message “My Vote, My Pride” and to encourage maximum voter turnout.

Across the state, preparations for the elections continue with technical readiness in mind. In Kozhikode, the Commissioning of EVMs has begun, with machines to be stored securely in strong rooms under tight security and later distributed to polling officials on the day before polling. In Kozhikode city, home voting coverage has surpassed 50% of eligible voters, covering 19,854 voters across 13 assembly constituencies, with the process expected to conclude by April 4. The cycle rally in Kasaragod complements these efforts by linking environmental stewardship with civic participation as Kerala moves toward election day.
