Delhi residents are currently enjoying a welcome respite from the scorching summer heat, with recent rainfall bringing cooler temperatures across the capital. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted a continuing wet spell for North India until next week, promising more rain and gusty winds for Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Punjab.
The city woke up to partly cloudy skies with thunder and lightning predicted for Sunday. This wet weather has contributed to a drop in temperatures, with Delhi recording a minimum temperature below the normal mark for this time of year.
However, this cool comfort might be short-lived. Forecasters expect maximum temperatures to begin a gradual rise over the coming days in Delhi, with the impact of the current cooling trend likely to reduce significantly after June 14.
Amidst these fluctuating weather patterns, Delhi's air quality has remained in the 'moderate' category. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) reported an Air Quality Index (AQI) reading of 143 at 9 a.m., which is generally considered acceptable.
While the immediate outlook brings rain and cooler conditions, citizens are advised to stay prepared for the eventual increase in temperatures as the monsoon season fully establishes itself. The ongoing wet spell offers a temporary break before the full swing of summer heat returns.
