TN CM Vijay Boosts Dairy Farmers & Unveils Mega Infrastructure Projects!
Tamil Nadu CM Vijay announces a significant hike in milk procurement prices for farmers and a massive multi-crore infrastructure push in power, semiconductors, and logistics. Big news for the state!
Chennai, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay has announced a series of impactful policy decisions aimed at bolstering the state's economy and supporting its residents. Headlining these announcements is a further increase in the Aavin milk procurement price, a crucial move designed to offer relief to dairy farmers across Tamil Nadu.
The Chief Minister revealed that the state government has approved a ₹3 per litre increase, raising the milk procurement price from ₹41 to ₹44 per litre. This follows a previous hike announced on August 19, which saw prices rise from ₹38 to ₹41.
This strategic decision directly addresses dairy farmers' growing concerns about the escalating costs of cattle feed and general maintenance expenses.
The move will require an additional financial outlay of ₹60 crore monthly, translating to a substantial annual expenditure of ₹720 crore from the state exchequer.
Beyond the agricultural sector, CM Vijay also unveiled an ambitious multi-crore infrastructure development plan spanning critical sectors such as power, semiconductors, and logistics. This extensive push is set to reshape the state's industrial landscape and improve essential services.
A significant investment of ₹33,066 crore has been earmarked for the Tamil Nadu Transmission Improvement Scheme. This project aims to establish 196 new substations and lay 15,000 km of power lines, significantly boosting the state's power grid. Furthermore, a 1,600 MW Super Critical Thermal Power Station will be set up in Tuticorin through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, involving an investment of ₹20,800 crore.
Chennai's power distribution network will also receive a substantial upgrade of ₹1,762 crore, enhancing urban flood resilience and meeting high load demands.
In a bid to propel Tamil Nadu into a technology hub, a Semiconductor and Electronics Manufacturing Park is slated for establishment at Maduramangalam in the Kanchipuram district. Complementing this, a FinTech Hub will be developed in Coimbatore, and a Multi-Modal Logistics Hub is planned for Tiruchirappalli, further strengthening the state's manufacturing base and tech ecosystem.
These initiatives collectively underscore the government's commitment to sustainable economic growth and improving the quality of life for its citizens.
