Jacob Alon Dominates 2026 Ivor Novello Awards with Double Win!

The 2026 Ivor Novello awards have just wrapped up, and it was a night to remember for Scottish singer-songwriter Jacob Alon. At just 25 years old, Alon took home two of the most prestigious honors, proving that their debut album 'In Limerence' has truly struck a chord with critics and fans alike.

Alon secured the Rising Star award, marking a double win for the year after previously picking up the equivalent prize at the Brit Awards. But the highlights didn't stop there. They also won the category for Best Song Musically and Lyrically for the touching ballad 'Don’t Fall Asleep.' The song, inspired by the tragic loss of a cousin, was praised by judges for being profoundly emotionally honest.

The ceremony, which celebrates the finest in British and Irish songwriting, also recognized other major stars. Sam Fender was named Songwriter of the Year for his social realist anthems on the album 'People Watching.' Fender’s win follows a successful run that saw him edge out Alon for the Mercury Prize earlier in the year.

International superstar Rosalía was honored as International Songwriter of the Year for her experimental and bold work on the album 'Lux.' Meanwhile, Irish favorite CMAT celebrated her win for Best Album with 'Euro-Country.' During her acceptance speech, she jokingly noted how nice it felt to finally win an award in England.

Other notable winners included Kae Tempest, who took home the prize for Best Contemporary Song for 'I Stand on the Line.' The night also featured a special tribute to Sir Elton John, who received an Ivors Academy Honour, with Lola Young helping to celebrate the legendary career of the 'Rocket Man' singer.
