PM Modi Inspects Progress of Surat’s Upcoming Bullet Train Station in Gujarat
Prime Minister Modi visits the under-construction Surat bullet train station to review MAHSR progress. The 508 km corridor, with 85% on viaducts, links major cities and signals a new era in Indian rail, officials say.
To assess the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor's (MAHSR) progress, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid a visit to the bullet train station that is currently under construction in Surat, Gujarat. The Prime Minister arrived in the Antroli neighborhood, where a bullet train station is being built, after landing at the Surat airport early in the morning. Mr. Modi discussed the work and engaged with officials. He even shared his views on his X handle.
One of India's most ambitious infrastructure projects, MAHSR covers roughly 508 km, with 156 km in Maharashtra and 352 km in Gujarat and Dadra and Nagar Haveli. By connecting important cities like Sabarmati, Ahmedabad, Anand, Vadodara, Bharuch, Surat, Bilimora, Vapi, Boisar, Virar, Thane, and Mumbai, the corridor will revolutionize India's transportation system. With 465 km (roughly 85% of the route) on viaducts, the project was constructed using cutting-edge engineering techniques that meet international standards, guaranteeing reduced land disturbance and increased safety. As of right now, 17 of the 25 river bridges have already been built, and 326 km of viaduct work has been finished. When the Bullet Train is finished, it will take almost two hours to get from Mumbai to Ahmedabad, revolutionizing intercity travel by making it quicker, simpler, and more comfortable.
The project is anticipated to stimulate regional development by increasing economic activity, tourism, and business along the entire corridor. The 47-kilometer Surat-Bilimora section is nearing completion, with all track-bed laying and civil work finished. The Surat station's elegant and practical design is influenced by the city's well-known diamond industry. With roomy waiting areas, restrooms, and retail stores, the station was designed with the comfort of its patrons in mind.
It will provide smooth multi-modal connectivity with the Indian Railways network, city buses, and the Surat Metro. Later in the day, Mr. Modi will travel to the tribally dominated Narmada district's Dediapada town to speak at a celebration honoring Birsa Munda's birth anniversary.
Additionally, he will inaugurate and lay the groundwork for development and infrastructure projects that will cost over 9,700 crore rupees. The prime minister will pray at the temple of Pandori Mata, the tribal community's clan deity, located in Devmogra village of Sagbara taluka, 23 kilometers from Dediapada, before speaking to the assembly.
