Delhi doubles down on water supply: 1,002 MGD, 1,221 tankers for summer
Delhi rolls out a Summer Action Plan to sustain 1,002 MGD water production and deploy 1,221 tankers, expanding fixed points to 13,000.
Delhi's summer action plan is in full swing as the city braces for heat waves. Water Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh announced that the Delhi Jal Board will sustain a peak production of about 1,002 million gallons per day and will deploy around 1,221 water tankers to reach every household.
To widen coverage, the government has increased the number of fixed supply points from roughly 9,000 to 13,000. These fixed points will ensure tanker water is available at more neighborhoods and street corners where residents often face shortages during peak hours.
Officials say the plan also leverages digital tools to streamline how residents lodge and track complaints, making it easier to pinpoint gaps in supply and respond quickly.
By boosting both the production and distribution network, the administration hopes to reduce outages and bring relief to households during the upcoming hot season.
