Geneva witnessed intense clashes between anti-G7 protesters and police forces today, as thousands took to the streets ahead of the upcoming G7 summit. What began as a large demonstration quickly escalated into confrontation, with authorities deploying water cannons and tear gas to disperse the crowds.
The protests, described by some as a "meeting of the rich," saw participants express strong opposition to the perceived power and economic oppression by the G7 nations. However, the demonstration turned violent, with reports of protesters smashing windows, including those of a UN office, and setting a parked Tesla ablaze.

With approximately 20,000 people estimated to have participated, Downtown Geneva had already braced for potential unrest, with extensive security measures and boards put up in anticipation. The G7 summit is scheduled to commence on June 15 in Évian-les-Bains, bringing together leaders from Britain, France, Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United States, and the European Union.
