Maynard James Keenan Opens Sushi Spot in Arizona! 🍣 Tool frontman's new venture!

Music icon Maynard James Keenan, known for his powerful vocals in bands like Tool, A Perfect Circle, and Puscifer, is once again expanding his diverse entrepreneurial portfolio. Fans and food enthusiasts alike can mark their calendars for September 4th, as Keenan is set to open Queen B Sushi in the charming Old Town Cottonwood, Arizona.
This new culinary endeavor joins a growing list of successful ventures in Arizona’s Verde Valley by Keenan and his wife, Jennifer. The couple also operates the Queen B Vinyl Café, a unique spot where music meets coffee. Beyond that, Keenan's significant presence in the local wine industry is well-established through his Merkin Vineyards Hilltop Winery & Trattoria and the Caduceus Cellars Hilltop Facility, making him a true pillar of the region's burgeoning arts and culinary scene.
The name "Queen B Sushi" itself carries a musical nod, derived from a 2007 Puscifer song, linking his artistic and business passions. Keenan's love for sushi is deeply personal and long-standing, as he shared. His journey with sushi began back in 1987 in Boston, and was further deepened during his first Japanese tour with A Perfect Circle in 2000. He humorously recounted carrying a pair of titanium and hardwood travel chopsticks from Snow Peak for twenty-five years, even pulling them out of his pocket to prove it to Janeane Garofalo, a testament to his genuine passion for the cuisine.
To ensure an exceptional dining experience, Keenan has assembled an impressive culinary team. Chef Brett Vibber, with extensive experience from Roka Akor’s London, Hong Kong, and US locations, will serve as the culinary director. He's joined by Chef Chuhiro “Thomas” Kato, who received training under the renowned Nobu Matsuhisa, and Arizona native Chef Sheridan “Sher” Chase. This team promises a high-caliber sushi experience.
Guests at Queen B Sushi will not only savor expertly crafted sushi but will also have the opportunity to pair their meals with a selection of Keenan’s own wines, further enhancing the local flavor profile. For those planning a visit to the Verde Valley, reservations are already available. Despite his expanding business empire, Keenan remains dedicated to his musical roots, with an international tour slated for this fall with both Puscifer and A Perfect Circle, showcasing his remarkable ability to juggle multiple passions.
