Around 200 SpiceJet passengers found themselves stranded and frustrated at Delhi airport, leading to protests after their flights to Dubai faced inordinate delays and multiple reschedulings since Monday, September 14, 2026. The two affected flights, SG 5111 and SG 5105, were initially slated for morning and evening departures, respectively.
Passengers, many stuck at Terminal 3 (T3), began protesting late Monday evening as their travel plans remained in limbo. Airport officials reportedly intervened, taking up the matter directly with SpiceJet executives to address the escalating situation.
In response to the outcry, a SpiceJet spokesperson issued a statement,
SpiceJet flights SG 5111 and SG 5105, operating from Delhi to Dubai, have been delayed due to operational reasons following the grounding of an aircraft.
The airline spokesperson expressed deep regret for the inconvenience caused and assured that alternate flights were being arranged to accommodate the affected passengers, vowing to minimize further disruption.
This incident comes at a challenging time for SpiceJet, which has been under increased scrutiny.

Rammohan Naidu confirmed that the civil aviation ministry and regulator DGCA were closely monitoring the airline's financials and operations, indicating ongoing concerns within the industry regarding the carrier's stability.
