Liam Gallagher Calls Oasis Hall of Fame Induction a Real Honor Amid Past Feuds

Liam Gallagher has, after years of voicing disdain for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, publicly welcomed Oasis’ induction as a real honor as the class of 2026 was announced. The nod puts the band on a roster that includes Phil Collins, Billy Idol, Iron Maiden, Joy Division/New Order, Sade, Luther Vandross, and Wu-Tang Clan, signaling a celebration of rock’s enduring legacy.

In a series of early-morning posts, Gallagher offered a mix of playful ambiguity and gratitude. "Reverse psychology vibes in the area Oasis RnR hall of farmers I mean famers," he wrote, before adding, "I wanna thank all the people who voted for us it’s a real honour ever since I was a little kid and singing in the shower I’d dream about 1 day being in the RnR hall of fame it’s true what they say anything is possible if you have a dream."

When fans pressed him about his earlier stance, he replied that his mother advised him to stop being a dick and go to the awards, and that maybe he might enjoy the experience. "Well I was speaking to my mummy last night when the news broke and she thinks I may have been a little hasty with my perception of the organization she’s told me to stop being a dick and go to the awards and behave and you never know you might enjoy it."

His 2024 stance remains part of the lore: in an interview with The Sunday Times he said, "As much as I love Mariah Carey and all that, I want to say: Do me a favor and fuck off. It’s like putting me in the rap hall of fame, and I don’t want to be part of anything that mentally disturbed. Besides, I’ve done more for rock & roll than half of them clowns on that board, so it’s all a load of bollocks." Whether sarcasm or not, the latest posts show a lighter, more celebratory take on the Hall’s 2026 class.
