DMK Leaders Booked Over "Derogatory" Remarks Against TN CM Vijay

A significant political development has unfolded in Tamil Nadu as cases have been registered against prominent DMK leaders, including MP A. Raja and MLAs P.K. Sekarbabu and Vasantham K.

The Greater Chennai Police took action against DMK deputy general secretary and Nilgiris MP A. Raja.

This move followed a complaint by one Karthik, alleging that Raja made offensive comments targeting Law Minister C.T.R.

Nirmal Kumar. These remarks were reportedly made during a DMK-organized protest in Saidapet on Saturday, September 12. The protest itself was held to condemn Chief Minister Vijay's speech in the Assembly on September 7.

Raja's case has been registered under six sections, which include using obscene language, making defamatory remarks intended to disturb public peace, inciting violence based on religion, race, or language, and acts causing disruption to public order.

Separately, the North Beach police in Chennai also registered a case against Harbour MLA and former Minister P.K. Sekarbabu. He faces charges for allegedly addressing Chief Minister Vijay in a derogatory manner.

Adding to the legal troubles for the Dravidian party, the Kallakurichi police have booked Rishivandhiyam MLA Vasantham K. Karthikeyan.

His case, registered under four sections, is also for making derogatory remarks against Mr.

Vijay during the same Saturday protest.

A TVK functionary lodged the complaint that led to the action against Karthikeyan.

These developments highlight a deepening political rift and the legal consequences of heated rhetoric in the state's political arena. The registrations of these cases indicate a firm response to what authorities deem as inappropriate public discourse from opposition figures.
