India Attends Trump-Backed Peace Meeting as Observer, Reaffirms Gaza Stance
MEA says India attended as observer in the Board of Peace meeting in Washington, reaffirming Gaza crisis stance and backing UN and Trump-led peace efforts.
In Washington, the Ministry of External Affairs confirmed that India participated in the inaugural meeting of the newly formed Board of Peace as an observer. The Indian embassy’s chargé d’affaires Namgya Khampa represented New Delhi at the meeting held at the Donald J Trump Institute of Peace, while the MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal provided updates from a weekly briefing in New Delhi. The attendance underscores New Delhi’s interest in multilateral diplomacy and conflict resolution as global attention centers on Middle East stability.
Alongside the attendance, the MEA reiterated India’s position on the Gaza humanitarian and political crisis. It welcomed the Gaza Peace Plan initiative proposed by President Donald Trump and signaled alignment with Resolution 2803 of the United Nations Security Council, which endorses a “Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict” originally proposed on September 29, 2025. By aligning with both the Trump-backed framework and UNSC efforts, India emphasized its commitment to multilateral peace processes while engaging constructively within a US-led diplomatic space.
The Washington gathering was also noted for Trump’s rhetoric on South Asian security. During the event, Trump claimed that his personal intervention had single-handedly prevented a full-scale war between India and Pakistan during Operation Sindoor in May 2025. The briefing kept the focus on Gaza diplomacy while acknowledging the broader regional security discourse surrounding the discussions.
In broader terms, India has signaled support for Palestine and a two-state solution, underscoring rights for the Palestinian people as part of its stance on a sustainable peace in the region.
