Chennai — In a high-stakes push ahead of Tamil Nadu's assembly polls, DMK president M.K. Stalin laid out a target of winning 200 seats and framed the contest as a test of vision and welfare promises. He argued the DMK-led alliance could deliver a sweeping victory, pointing to ongoing welfare schemes and development initiatives.
Stalin attacked the BJP's stance on the so-called women’s reservation, branding the pitch as weaponised and contending that political manipulation of the quota must not define the election. He suggested that such moves are being used to gain electoral leverage rather than address policy needs.
He also pressed that the women’s reservation must be implemented immediately without citing delimitation as a delay tactic. This stance aligns with the DMK's broader argument that constitutional reforms should not be held up by administrative changes ahead of polls.
The DMK chief further framed the contest as a battle of ideologies, asserting that AIADMK lacks a clear ideological mooring and is increasingly seen as being influenced from Delhi, while the DMK remains focused on welfare-centric governance for Tamil Nadu.
