Best OTT Shows and Movies of 2025: A Must-Watch Streaming Guide

Streaming has continued to bring us more and more content in 2025, with more platforms and more demand. As we approach the end of the year, let’s take a look at what are the best they have had to offer this year and what are some must watches for next two months.

One of the bigger highlights from earlier this year include All we Imagine as Light, a Golden Globe nominated Malayalam film that was available on Hotstar. They also had the Oscar nominated film A Real Pain.

We also had The White Lotus Season 3 on Hotstar, Reacher Season 3 on Prime that brought back more viewers than before. In the superhero genre, we had Daredevil: Born Again, Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts as the headliners while fantasy and sci-fi gave us another season of Andor as well as Black Mirror available on Hotstar and Netflix, respectively.

Netflix also offered up You Season 5, which got mixed reviews but still delivered enough drama (and Penn Badgley meme moments) to keep its loyal fanbase glued.

Coming into June, the second half of the year, we had the long-awaited Squid Game season 3 which offered more twists and turns, maintaining popularity while Severance season 2 only brought more attention and was one of the best releases of the year.

Peacemaker and Gen V offered their follow up seasons which showed much promise and has been seen as set up for future storylines in their respective universes.

Sitcom heads have to check out The Paper on Hotstar—a spin-off of The Office that hit the sweet spot for die-hard Dunder Mifflin fans.

Rick and Morty continued into season 8 with the new voice actors, bringing in mixed reactions and a much less viewership while Wednesday’s follow-up season showed more promise.

Recent standouts include The Bastards of Bollywood, which instantly exploded on social media last month and is still a daily meme machine. Kurukshetra, an animated retelling of the Mahabharata’s legendary war, has become a surprise streamer darling for families and mythology buffs. On the grittier side, Netflix’s Monster: The Ed Gein Story scared up plenty of attention, while crime garage cults can’t stop talking about Search: The Naina Murder Case.

October has already promised us The Witcher season 4 with the recast of Liam Hemsworth and might be worth a watch. While we approach the end of the year, Emily in Paris season 5 seems to be the perfect Christmas watch for any fans.

Frankenstein, releasing November 7 on Netflix has already promised to be one of the best films of the year, with many positive reviews from the festivals it has been screened at. And of course, family and superhero watches are sorted with Fantastic Four: First Steps set for a holiday debut on Hotstar, alongside the crowd-pleasing live-action How to Train Your Dragon.
