Tata Power has successfully commissioned a crucial 400kV transmission corridor in Uttar Pradesh, marking a significant step towards bolstering the region's energy infrastructure. This new corridor is set to greatly enhance the reliability, resilience, and efficiency of the electricity transmission network across Western Uttar Pradesh.
The project, spearheaded by TP Jalpura Khurja Power Transmission Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Power, consists of two circuits, each approximately 81 kilometers long.
It establishes a vital high-voltage connection between Khurja and Jalpura, with Khurja serving as a key power node.
This strategic link is crucial for transmitting electricity not only within the immediate area but also towards the National Capital Region (NCR) and Noida, supporting their growing power demands. A newly commissioned substation is integral to this development, facilitating the seamless transfer of power from the robust 400kV high-voltage grid to the 220kV network.
This upgrade is designed to meet the rising electricity requirements of the region, ensuring a more stable and consistent power supply for both residential and commercial consumers. With this latest commissioning, Tata Power's impressive transmission portfolio has expanded, now encompassing 7,900 circuit kilometers of lines that are either operational or under execution throughout India.
The company, a vertically integrated entity and a proud part of the Tata Group, boasts a diversified presence across the entire power value chain. Tata Power's extensive operations include an operational and under-construction capacity exceeding 26 GW, with a strong focus on clean and green energy, accounting for around 17.7 GW. Additionally, it maintains 8.8 GW of thermal generation capacity.
Beyond generation, the company is deeply involved in transmission and distribution, serving over 13 million customers.
Its commitment to sustainable energy is further evidenced by its 4.9 GW integrated solar cell and module manufacturing capacity and a rapidly expanding network of over 7,000 public EV charging points across 717 cities and towns, highlighting its role in India's energy transition.
