Delhi Nursery Admissions 2026-27: DoE Criteria Revealed and Timelines Announced
Delhi private schools publish point-based admission rules as DoE outlines norms for 2026-27, with forms in December and lists in January and February, ending in March.
The admission process for entry-level classes in Delhi’s private unaided recognised schools has kicked off as the Directorate of Education released detailed norms for the upcoming session. Schools across the city have begun uploading their point-based criteria on the DoE portal as well as on their own websites. Like in previous years, points are awarded based on factors such as distance from home, whether siblings attend the same school, and whether parents are alumni. A few schools have added a criterion for a single girl child, with Mount Abu Public School in Rohini awarding five points for this.
In at least one example, Modern Public School in Shalimar Bagh assigns the maximum 70 points to candidates residing within 800 metres of the school, 60 points for those living 8.1 to 10 kilometres away, and 50 points for those within 10.1 to 12 kilometres. It also grants 10 points if the student has a sibling in the school or if the parents are alumni. DoE instructions require schools to clearly display their point distribution on both the DoE portal and their own websites, and to upload details of selected students under open seats, including their scores.
The admission schedule for the session is becoming clearer: forms will be available from December 4 to December 27. The first admission list is slated for January 23, followed by the second on February 9. The process is expected to conclude by March 19. Importantly, the DoE has reiterated that criteria such as parents’ education and the concept of a meritorious child are banned, and schools must publish their point distributions for transparency.
