Apple unveils M5 MacBook Air and Pro with Wi‑Fi 7 and 4TB storage

Apple has rolled out updated MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models powered by its new M5 chip family, bringing stronger performance, on-device AI enhancements, faster storage, and support for Wi‑Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. Both lines will be up for pre-order from March 4, with sales kicking off March 11 in India and other markets.

MacBook Air with M5 pushes performance with a 10-core CPU and up to a 10-core GPU, plus a Neural Accelerator in each core. Apple claims AI tasks run up to four times faster than the M4 and up to 9.5 times faster than the M1. The Air doubles the base storage to 512GB and can be configured to 4TB, while the SSD is reportedly up to twice as fast for read and write, and memory bandwidth climbs 28% to 153GB/s. The design remains fanless and slim in a 13.6-inch or 15.3-inch Liquid Retina display with up to 500 nits brightness and one billion colors, along with a 12MP Center Stage camera with Desk View, Spatial Audio, and Dolby Atmos.

Connectivity gets a boost too, with Apple’s N1 wireless chip enabling Wi‑Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, and two Thunderbolt 4 ports that can drive two external displays. MagSafe charging is retained for easy, safe power. Apple describes the M5-equipped Air as delivering a balance of productivity and creative power, from everyday work to demanding tasks like photo and video work.

Meanwhile, the MacBook Pro lineup also gets the M5 upgrade, designed to satisfy power users with even stronger AI performance and larger storage options, along with the same Wi‑Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 support. The company notes the new models are built to handle intensive workloads while maintaining long battery life and a premium build.

The company says the updated MacBooks combine incredible performance with new AI capabilities, all in a sleek and durable design, underscoring Apple’s push to fuse mobility and intelligence in its portable machines.
