ED raids at LPU, ties to AAP MP Ashok Mittal under FEMA
ED raids under FEMA target Lovely Professional University in Jalandhar and related business entities linked to AAP MP Ashok Mittal, spanning ten locations across Jalandhar and Gurugram.
Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday conducted raids at Lovely Professional University in Jalandhar and at Tetr College of Business and Masters Union College of Business in Gurugram, covering ten locations across the two cities. The action is being carried out under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).
Officials say the raids target business entities linked to AAP MP Ashok Mittal, who recently replaced Raghav Chadha as the party's Rajya Sabha deputy leader.
Reacting to the operation, AAP leaders Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann described it as election-prep by the Modi government, underscoring the political dimension of the investigation ahead of polls in the state.
Ten locations were searched in Jalandhar and Gurugram as part of the ED action, with Lovely Professional University (LPU) — reportedly owned by Mittal — among the institutions named in the raids.
