Bomb threats hit Delhi courts again as Red Fort case moves forward
Delhi courts and schools received bomb threats amid Red Fort blast case hearings, later deemed hoaxes; security tightens across the capital.
Delhi's Patiala House Court was placed on high alert on Tuesday after a bomb threat surfaced ahead of the appearance of Jasir Bilal Wani, the NIA's second arrest in the Red Fort bombing case. The scare prompted rapid security mobilization, with Rapid Action Force personnel, bomb disposal and dog squads deployed outside the court precincts. The threat later turned out to be a hoax. In the same wave of alerts, Saket and Tis Hazari courts also reported threats, prompting suspensions of some court work.
Earlier, Amir Rashid Ali, linked to the Red Fort blast, was arrested by the NIA and transported from Patiala House. The Wanis are neighbours of those involved in the Faridabad terror module and the Red Fort blast case. While Muzaffar Rather remains at large, Adil Rather was arrested in Uttar Pradesh earlier this month.
Across the city, reports indicated that threats via email were also directed at two CRPF schools and three court complexes, triggering immediate evacuations and security checks. Bomb disposal teams and security staff conducted thorough sweeps as Delhi Police investigated the source of these threats.
Despite the alarms, officials stressed there is no element of fear and that courts are functioning smoothly. Security will remain tight as investigations continue and the capital remains on alert for any updates related to the Red Fort case.
