The 2026 Oscars delivered one of the most moving In Memoriam segments in its history, honoring the many Hollywood figures the industry lost over the past year. When Harry Met Sally star Billy Crystal opened the emotional segment with a special tribute to beloved director Rob Reiner, who was found stabbed to death in December 2025. Their son has been charged with the murders and pleaded not guilty. Crystal spoke from the heart about Reiner's films and what they meant to audiences, promising that Reiner’s work would live on in the way it touched people. Rachel McAdams then took the stage to honor Diane Keaton and Catherine O’Hara, acknowledging Keaton’s death in October 2025 from pneumonia after a sudden health decline and O’Hara’s passing in January. Barbra Streisand closed out the segment with a musical tribute to Robert Redford.
