Stephen Colbert Makes Hilarious Surprise TV Return on Michigan Public Access!
Just one day after leaving late-night, Stephen Colbert took over a local Michigan show with Eminem and Jack White. See the chaos and the celebrity cameos here!
After an "excruciating" 23 hours away from the cameras, Stephen Colbert is officially back on television. In a move that surprised fans everywhere, the former Late Show host popped up as the guest host of "Only in Monroe," a public access show in Monroe, Michigan. This isn't his first time there—Colbert fans might remember his 2015 stint—but this latest appearance was a star-studded spectacle that local TV rarely sees.
Colbert didn’t come alone. He brought along some heavy hitters to help fill the hour-long broadcast. Rocker Jack White served as the episode’s deadpan DJ, while Steve Buscemi showed up to film a hilarious promo for "Buscemi’s Pizza." Jeff Daniels even dropped by to teach viewers how to make his signature "zany sandwich," a recipe he’d previously teased on CBS.
The highlight of the night, however, was an appearance by Michigan’s own Eminem. Dressed as a local "fire marshal," the rap legend didn’t offer much in the way of safety tips. Instead, he joined Colbert in a chaotic finale where the cast completely demolished the set. Colbert joked that since he was no longer using the stage, he’d "very much like to break something."
Between the celebrity cameos, Colbert kept things local. He shared news about a local hunter processing a deer and the grand opening of a new dance studio. In a more touching moment, he joined regular hosts Michelle Baumann and Kaye Lani Rafko-Wilson for "spirit shots" and helium chasers to celebrate Baumann’s cancer remission. It was a wild, heartwarming, and quintessentially Colbert way to spend his first day of retirement.
