Nationalist Congress Party (SP) chief Sharad Pawar, accompanied by his daughter and Lok Sabha member Supriya Sule, held a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Wednesday. The high-profile encounter took place amidst the ongoing Monsoon session of Parliament, drawing attention to critical national issues.
The meeting comes shortly after both Pawar and Sule joined protestors at Jantar Mantar, where the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has been conducting an agitation against the alleged NEET-UG paper leak. During their visit to the protest site on Tuesday, both leaders voiced their support for the demand of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation.
Sharad Pawar has been vocal about the government's handling of the situation, urging the Centre to “sensitively consider the demands” of the protestors and take appropriate action. He emphasized the government’s accountability to its citizens, stating, “The Indian Constitution has provided protection to the rights and entitlements of every citizen of the country, and the government and administration are accountable to the people.”
He further stressed that instead of suppressing peaceful demonstrations, the government should acknowledge and address the concerns of students and citizens. Pawar's remarks underscore a critical juncture where parliamentary proceedings are intertwined with public protests and demands for governmental transparency and action on significant national issues.
