Kota Man Detained Over Threat to Shoot Rahul Gandhi and 25 MPs
Police in Kota detained a man who released a video threatening to shoot Rahul Gandhi and 25 Congress MPs, as authorities undertake suo motu action and investigations.
A man identified as Raj Singh, who allegedly acts as a spokesperson for the Karni Sena, released a video threatening to shoot Rahul Gandhi and 25 Congress MPs. The video claimed anger over how 25 Congress MPs allegedly verbally abused the Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla during the Budget session. The threat reportedly said that if incidents recurred, the group would enter the houses of those MPs and vandalize them, adding that the threats were ordered by Rahul Gandhi. The video subsequently drew police attention and sparked investigations.
Kota Superintendent of Police Tejaswani Gautam said the police took suo motu action and detained the accused at Borkheda police station. He is being interrogated regarding the video. Four criminal cases are already registered against him at Udyog Nagar police station, and appropriate legal proceedings will be initiated under relevant sections. In the video, a picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Birla shaking hands is visible in the background.
Both the BJP and the Karni Sena denied any association with the accused, clarifying that the person seen in the video has no connection with the BJP. The incident comes against the backdrop of broader political tensions surrounding parliamentary proceedings and comments by opposition parties.
There is no confirmation yet regarding any links to specific organisations. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are monitoring the case closely in light of heightened political frictions during the Budget session.
