Congress claims NDA conceding defeat in Bihar polls ahead of final phase
Congress leaders in Patna allege the NDA is conceding defeat in Bihar Assembly polls as turnout stays high and the INDIA bloc gains momentum ahead of the final phase.
Senior Congress leaders held a press conference in Patna on Sunday, arguing that the NDA has effectively conceded defeat in Bihar's Assembly elections. They pointed to a buoyant turnout in the first phase and rising support for the INDIA bloc ahead of the final phase on November 11.
Pawan Khera, who heads the Congress’s media and publicity wing, claimed that NDA leaders have begun vacating their official residences and moving important files, warning that fires could occur at locations where such records are kept. He also slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his controversial 'katta' remark at rallies, saying the comment insulted Bihar's youth and demanded an apology.
Congress general secretary (communications) Jairam Ramesh posted on X alleging the Bihar government has looted funds, citing a CAG 2025 report that shows ₹70,877.61 crore spent without any utilisation certificates, leaving no proof of how the money was used. The charge list says funds meant for Dalits, backward communities, farmers, health, education, and welfare were either misused or left unspent, with departments such as education, rural development, urban development, and SC/ST welfare singled out.
As the final phase nears, opposition leaders insist the electorate wants change, while the NDA dismisses the allegations and highlights governance and development. Political watchers say the turnout in the first phase has energized both camps, but the path to a clear verdict remains unclear until November 11.
