IAS Officer Divya Mittal Resigns: A 13-Year Journey Ends!

Divya Mittal, a highly respected Uttar Pradesh cadre IAS officer, has officially resigned from the Indian Administrative Service, concluding an impactful 13-year career. The 2013-batch officer announced her decision on X (formerly Twitter), marking the end of an "unforgettable journey." While the specific reasons for her resignation remain unstated, her post offered a glimpse into her career and personal philosophy.

Mittal's journey to the civil services was remarkable.

Growing up in a modest environment, she harbored aspirations for a successful life.

She pursued higher education at prestigious institutions, earning a BTech from IIT Delhi and an MBA from IIM Bengaluru.

Her initial career took her to London, but a profound sense of incompleteness and a desire to contribute to her homeland prompted her return to India. She felt a deep obligation to repay the country that had provided her with education, confidence, and the ability to thrive globally.

After returning, Mittal successfully cleared the UPSC examination on her second attempt in 2013, securing an impressive 68th rank. She had previously qualified for the IPS in 2012.

Throughout her service, she held significant positions, including district magistrate in Sant Kabir Nagar, Mirzapur, and Deoria.

Her experiences in these roles shaped her perspectives: Deoria taught her that "standing with what is right is not an option but a duty," while Mirzapur instilled the belief that "the impossible is not a fact, but merely an opinion." She emphasized a human-centric approach to governance, recognizing the individual stories behind every government file, particularly when working with needy families, persons with disabilities, and farmers. Originally from Rewari, Haryana, her career has been a testament to dedication and service.
