Good news for millions of Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) subscribers! The Labour Ministry is in the final stages of introducing a groundbreaking facility that will allow you to withdraw your provident fund savings directly through UPI and ATM cards. This highly anticipated service is expected to be rolled out before the end of June, making access to your funds significantly easier and faster.
Once the new Version 2.01 server becomes operational, members of the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) will be able to access their PF savings directly. This initiative is part of the larger EPFO 3.0 vision, which aims to enhance the speed, efficiency, and accessibility of PF-related services while drastically reducing paperwork for employees, pensioners, and employers.
Under this new system, eligible members will be able to transfer PF funds directly to their Aadhaar-linked and bank-seeded accounts using UPI or ATMs. This means fewer delays, less manual intervention, and a more transparent and accountable withdrawal process. EPFO is also likely to issue EPF-linked ATM cards to subscribers, which will function much like standard debit cards, further simplifying financial transactions.
Regarding withdrawal limits, the proposed framework suggests that eligible EPFO subscribers may be allowed to withdraw between 50% to 75% of their accumulated EPF corpus. Specific conditions and eligibility criteria will be officially notified once the facility is operational. Crucially, at least 25% of your total balance will remain locked in the account. This provision is designed to preserve long-term savings, ensuring that the EPF continues to serve its primary purpose of providing essential financial security after retirement.
EPFO 3.0 also introduces other significant features aimed at streamlining processes. These include the auto-settlement of claims, where eligible EPF advance claims of up to Rs 5 lakh can now be processed automatically, significantly reducing manual intervention and speeding up claim processing. Additionally, digital record corrections will make profile and record adjustments less dependent on physical office visits, although some specific changes may still require in-person verification. These advancements promise a more efficient, convenient, and subscriber-friendly experience for all EPF members.
