Shakeel Ahmad Calls Rahul Gandhi a Coward, Dictatorial Leader
Former Congress leader Shakeel Ahmad labels Rahul Gandhi as coward and insecure, accusing him of stifling senior voices and dismantling internal democracy.
Former Congress leader Shakeel Ahmad on Saturday labeled Rahul Gandhi a coward and an insecure leader, claiming he promotes only younger colleagues who sing his paeans and does not listen to senior voices.
Ahmad, a former Union minister and three-time Bihar MLA who quit the Congress after the 2025 Bihar Assembly polls, noted Gandhi's loss in Amethi when he led the party and argued the seat nurtured by his forefathers slipped away because of his attitude.
He insisted there is no internal democracy in the Congress, saying Rahul Gandhi's word is final and that he is dictatorial and not democratic. Ahmad compared Gandhi with Sonia Gandhi, saying she transformed Rajiv Gandhi's Congress and that of Narasimha Rao and Sitaram Kesri into her own, implying Gandhi failed to do the same with Sonia's Congress.
The BJP seized on the remarks, saying they exposed Gandhi's leadership and fueling a new round of political sparring ahead of elections.
