Iconic character actor Peter Greene, known for Pulp Fiction and The Mask, dies at 60 in New York City; cause of death undisclosed as family mourns.
Peter Greene, the character actor famous for Zed in Pulp Fiction and a villain in The Mask, was found dead in his New York apartment at 60. His manager confirmed the death on Friday and said the cause had not been released.
Born in Montclair, New Jersey, Greene built a reputation as a versatile screen presence. He appeared in Laws of Gravity (1992) and Clean, Shaven (1993) before breaking out as a memorable antagonist in 1994’s Pulp Fiction, and later as the caped villain in The Mask. He also appeared in The Usual Suspects, Training Day, and Blue Streak.
Greene died at his home on the Lower East Side of New York, where he had been working on two projects, including a documentary about the federal government's withdrawal of funding from USAID. Friends and collaborators remember him as a kind, generous person and one of the great character actors who could steal a scene in any film.
