Indian Seafarer Dies in Gulf Incident; Dubai Consulate Probes Details
Dubai consulate says it’s in touch with the ship’s owner as details are gathered about an Indian seafarer’s death in the Gulf.
Dubai's consulate said they are in touch with the ship's owner and are ascertaining further details about the incident that claimed the life of an Indian seafarer.
Earlier, Opesh Kumar Sharma, Director of Shipping at India's Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, said that Indian seafarers are safe in the region with no reported incidents from May 4 to 6. He noted that the ministry has helped repatriate over 2,999 seafarers from various Gulf locations, including 23 in the last 48 hours, and that port operations across India remain normal with no congestion.
The ministry said it continues to coordinate with the Ministry of External Affairs, Indian missions, and maritime stakeholders to ensure seafarer welfare and uninterrupted maritime operations.
