Three Women Found Dead Off Brighton Coast, Police Probe Underway
Authorities investigate after three women were recovered from the sea near Brighton, with CCTV reviews planned and beach closure in place.
The bodies of three women have been recovered from the sea off Brighton, as emergency services responded to concerns for their welfare around 5.45am. Their bodies were pulled from the water near Madeira Drive, and investigators say the inquiry is fast-moving as they work to identify the victims and determine what happened. It is not yet clear who raised the alarm or whether the women were together. Police say CCTV from the surrounding area, including from nearby properties and businesses, will be reviewed as part of the investigation.
Coastguard helicopters and RNLI lifeboats from Brighton and Shoreham, along with rescue teams from Shoreham, Newhaven and Birling Gap, are conducting a thorough search of the water. At this stage, officials say they are not looking for anyone else, and the beach will be closed for the rest of the afternoon while emergency crews work at the scene.
Local officials and residents are urged to avoid the area as inquiries continue and families are notified. Updates will be provided as the investigation progresses, and the identities of the victims will be confirmed with next of kin.
