Shakira, a long-serving board member of the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund and the upcoming halftime performer for the FIFA World Cup Final 2026, made the announcement in a new video. Her deep commitment to education and humanitarian causes shines through, as she has consistently used her platform to advocate for children's well-being and access to learning opportunities.
The Colombian pop sensation also extended a powerful call to action, urging football fans worldwide to contribute to the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund. This initiative aims to raise an ambitious $100 million to provide enhanced educational opportunities and vital resources for students globally. The recent earthquakes that struck Venezuela on June 24th have left a trail of immense devastation. Over 2,600 people have been confirmed dead, with more than 60,000 still reported missing. This tragedy has been exacerbated by years of unheeded warnings from residents, construction experts, and seismologists regarding the vulnerability of Venezuela’s public housing to natural disasters, highlighting a deeper systemic issue alongside the immediate crisis.
