Drake Snubs Grammys Again: No Submissions for 2027 Awards!
Drake's Grammy boycott continues! Despite dropping three albums, he's skipping 2027 submissions. Find out why artists like BTS are joining the protest against music's biggest night!
Drake, one of music's biggest names, is once again making headlines for his stance against the Recording Academy. The superstar has opted not to submit any of his music for consideration at the 2027 Grammy Awards, continuing a boycott he’s maintained for several years.
This decision comes despite a prolific year for Drake, who released three albums, "Iceman," "Habibti," and "Maid Of Honour", all on the same day. Fans keeping a close ear to his lyrics might not be surprised, as he explicitly stated his intentions on the track "Make Them Know," rapping, "This album, I’m never submittin’ it."
Drake's history with the Grammys is a long and often contentious one.
His public disapproval intensified in 2020 after The Weeknd, a collaborator-turned-rival, was notably snubbed despite a hugely successful album cycle for "After Hours." At the time, Drake voiced strong criticism, suggesting that the awards no longer reflected impactful music and that artists should "accept that what once was the highest form of recognition may no longer matter."
Following this, Drake withdrew his 2022 Grammy nominations and has largely skipped submitting his music in subsequent years, including 2023, 2025, and 2026. While he holds an impressive record of 55 nominations and 5 wins (including one in 2023 for his feature on Future's "Wait For U"), his consistent boycott underscores a growing sentiment among some artists.
Adding to the narrative, K-pop powerhouses BTS and Stray Kids are also reportedly joining the boycott.
This is particularly noteworthy as the Grammys are introducing a new K-pop-focused category, "Best Asian Pop Music Performance," further highlighting a potential disconnect between the institution and global music trends.
Meanwhile, the Grammys themselves are undergoing a significant change, moving their broadcast to ABC, Hulu, and Disney+ starting in 2027, with the upcoming ceremony scheduled for Sunday, February 7, 2027.
