The controversy began during a Filmfare Awards event in Goa, where Singh reportedly imitated a Daiva and referred to it as a 'devil.' These remarks deeply hurt the religious sentiments of many, leading to a formal complaint by a lawyer and a subsequent FIR against the actor. While the Karnataka High Court eventually quashed the proceedings against the star on May 5, 2026, it did so only after accepting his unconditional apology and directing him to visit the deity in Mysuru within four weeks to make amends for his conduct.
