India's defence sector is buzzing with renewed energy following a significant announcement from the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC). The council recently cleared procurement proposals worth a staggering ₹52,000 crore, a move expected to provide a substantial boost to the nation's defence manufacturers and strengthen the overall outlook for the industry.
This massive government push has drawn considerable attention from market experts and investors alike. Gaurav Sharma, Associate VP & Head of Research at Globe Capital, highlights that rising defence spending, coupled with advanced surveillance requirements, sophisticated missile systems, and enhanced electronic warfare capabilities, will continue to fuel long-term growth in the sector. Despite some recent volatility after a sharp rally, experts remain highly positive about the prospects of select companies within this space.
Several defence stocks have already seen a rally following the DAC's approval. Companies like Zen Technologies, ideaForge, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Paras Defence, and Data Patterns all registered gains. Analysts are keen on identifying the top beneficiaries of this development.
Gaurav Sharma's preferred picks include BEL, HAL, and Mazagon Dock. He emphasizes their strong order visibility and numerous long-term opportunities as key drivers for potential growth. Echoing this sentiment, brokerage firm Antique has identified Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), BEL, and Solar Industries as potential beneficiaries, maintaining a 'Buy' rating on several defence stocks, including Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders, HAL, BEL, BDL, Zen Tech Ltd, Solar Industries, and PTC Industries. Motilal Oswal also reiterated its 'Buy' ratings on HAL, Bharat Electronics, and Astra Microwave.
The ₹52,000 crore procurement drive underscores the government's commitment to strengthening indigenous defence production and modernizing the armed forces. This strategic investment is poised to create a ripple effect, fostering innovation, creating jobs, and potentially delivering significant returns for investors who back the right defence sector players.
