Manipur MLAs Meet in Delhi to Chart Peace and Progress

A high-profile gathering of Manipur's BJP MLAs from Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities convened at the party's Delhi headquarters on Sunday to chart a course for peace and progress in Manipur. The talks were led by BJP National General Secretary (Organisation) BL Santhosh and Northeast Coordinator Sambit Patra, who directed the discussions with a focus on restoring normalcy and promoting development.
The discussions unfolded in three rounds: first with the Kuki-Zo MLAs, then with Meitei and Naga MLAs separately, and finally a joint session with all attendees. While no official agenda on government formation was announced, participants indicated a consensus that a new inclusive popular government could emerge as normalcy returns, even though Manipur remains under President's rule since February 13.
A key emphasis of the meeting was to restore normalcy and facilitate free movement for both communities. Participants were urged to set an example by visiting each other’s areas and ensuring unhindered movement of people, goods, and services. The BJP’s post on X described the gathering as centered on peace and progress for Manipur, signaling a continued push for stability in the state.
Although rumours circulated about forming a new government, attendees stressed that the discussions were primarily about peace, development, and the party’s vision for the region. Several MLAs noted a desire for an inclusive governance model that could pave the way for a stable political environment once circumstances permit. The Delhi meeting underscored a broader strategy to engage leaders from all communities of Manipur in a constructive dialogue aimed at long-term peace and growth.
As party leaders in Delhi map out the next steps, the focus remains on translating dialogue into action on the ground in Manipur, with an emphasis on normalcy, cross-community interaction, and inclusive development.
