Tricky Announces New Album Different When It’s Silent and Paranoid Lead Single
Tricky unveils his first solo album in six years, dropping the eerie Out Of Place and announcing a UK/Europe tour.
Tricky has announced his fifteenth album Different When It’s Silent, his first solo record under his own name in six years. The Bristol-born trip-hop icon also released the paranoid new single Out Of Place, which features Marta Złakowska and gives fans a first taste of what’s to come ahead of a lengthy UK and European tour.
Different When It's Silent is due July 17 on False Idols. The tracklist runs: Still See Me There, I'm Yours, Be Still In Your Pain, I Tried, So Cold, Paris Maybe, Cannon Fodder, Because I Don't Know, Marinade, Radana, Piano, Frontier Town, Hengrove Blues, and Out Of Place.
The single embodies the nocturnal, paranoid energy that has marked Tricky’s career, with frenetic drum patterns and mournful strings underpinning Złakowska's eerie vocals. A video for Out Of Place accompanies the release, amplifying the track’s unsettling mood.
The tour kicks off May 10 at The Palais in Nottingham, before moving to Dublin, London, Manchester and Bristol, and then continuing across Europe with dates in Bydgoszcz (Drums Fusion Festival), Brussels (Ancienne Belgique), Paris (Trianon), Lyon (Radiant), Antwerp (De Roma) and Doornroosje.
Beyond the solo project, Tricky has been involved in several collaborations, including Lonely Guest and Fifteen Days with Mike Theis under the name Theis Thaws, plus Out The Way, a joint release with Złakowska, underscoring his ongoing creative experiments outside the solo work.
