Bitcoin Rockets Towards $70K! 🚀 Trump Pushes Crypto Clarity Act

Bitcoin has once again captivated the financial world, inching closer to the significant $70,000 mark for the first time since early June. This remarkable surge follows a pivotal week where former President Donald Trump hosted crypto executives at the White House and strongly advocated for the passage of the stalled CLARITY Act, a bill aimed at establishing a clear regulatory framework for the cryptocurrency sector. This political push, combined with a crucial economic move by the U.S. Treasury, has ignited a fresh wave of enthusiasm in the digital asset market.
The U.S. Treasury's recent announcement to substantially increase its buyback of 20-year and 30-year bonds has played a significant role in this crypto rally. This strategy aims to lower long-term bond yields, which in turn makes higher-risk assets like Bitcoin more attractive to investors. Charlie Hayward, APAC regional director at RootstockCollective, highlighted this alignment of macro and policy catalysts, explaining that the Treasury's move addresses concerns over rising borrowing costs and U.S. debt levels.
Experts are noting the profound impact of these developments. Max Stuedlein, head of Partnerships at Sygnum APAC, reiterated that the Treasury's decision to double its buybacks of long-dated government debt directly tackles yield concerns. Geoffrey Kendrick, global head of digital assets research at Standard Chartered, enthusiastically stated that such Treasury support "is exactly the type of thing Bitcoin loves." Kendrick even went further, advising investors to position themselves for a move to $100,000 by year-end 2026.
The market reaction has been swift and dramatic. The significant moves in crypto have triggered the second-largest short liquidation in history, according to Thomas Lee, co-founder and head of research at Fundstrat. This massive unwinding of short positions further fueled the upward momentum. Alongside Bitcoin, Ether has also seen impressive gains, rising approximately 19% in the past seven days to reach $2,251, marking a three-month high.
For weeks, Bitcoin had been trading within a tight range of $62,000 and $66,000, a period that proved "rather frustrating for crypto traders" due to the lack of volatility, as noted by David Morrison, a senior market analyst at Trade Nation. This recent breakout has certainly injected much-needed excitement back into the market, suggesting a potential shift in investor sentiment and market dynamics as regulatory clarity appears closer on the horizon and macro-economic factors align favorably for digital assets.
