Google rolls out Gemini Personal Intelligence in India, linking Gmail and Photos for personalized data queries and adding Chrome AI Skills to save prompts.
Google is rolling out Gemini Personal Intelligence in India, letting users link their Google accounts — including Gmail and Photos — to access a personalized layer of AI insights on their own data. The rollout, aimed at bringing advanced AI tools to a wider audience, is tied to users on AI Pro and AI Ultra plans, with plans to open up to free users in the coming weeks.
With Personal Intelligence, users can ask questions about information stored across emails, photos, and recent activity, and receive results drawn from their own data. For example, they could ask about travel plans and get a summary from emails, calendar entries, and trip receipts. It can also pull context from videos watched on YouTube to offer recommendations based on viewing history. Google emphasizes transparency, promising to explain where it gets information from.
India is a key market in Google's AI strategy, and this feature builds on an earlier launch in the United States before expanding to Japan and now India. At launch, access is limited to AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers in India, with a stated plan to widen access to free users in the coming weeks. Users should be aware the feature is still evolving and may misread nuances or relationships in data.
Separately, Google is adding 'Skills' to Chrome to help users save and reuse AI prompts across websites, building on Gemini's browser integration. The premade Skills include tips like increasing dietary protein in recipes or summarizing YouTube videos, illustrating how AI prompts can streamline daily tasks across web apps. The combination of Personal Intelligence and Chrome Skills signals Google's push to integrate AI more deeply into everyday online activity.
